And yet, it will be here before we know it and if your plans include hosting parties with a new custom hardwood table, this is the time to get started. How is that you ask? Let’s walk through the process.
Figuring Out The Details of Your Table
The thing about 'custom' is that you have lots of options available. Figuring out the best configuration for you means doing a little bit of research. Let’s be honest, you’re going to have this table for a long time so it’s important not to rush through this decision making step. We have some established styles that you could use as a starting point. Our design team is experienced in walking people through this if you need a hand. One of the best places to start is with our Table Design Kit. This will help collect the information that our team will use to come up with some recommendations for you. This step typically takes between 1 and 3 weeks to complete.
Building Your Table
This is when our production team does their thing. Based on the design you choose, we will build your table. This includes choosing the wood, prepping it and getting the core details right. Then our finishing team does some final sanding and applies your chosen finish. After that we pack it up so we can send it to you. At the same time, we’re building forever tables for other people as well - so the amount of time we need for this step can vary a bit. Typically building, finishing and packing your table requires 6 to 8 weeks, depending somewhat on the complexity of your project.
Getting Your Table to You
Getting your table to your home is a key piece of the puzzle and not just an afterthought. It’s important that it arrives safely to you and so we take care in how we pack and ship your table. Delivery time is affected by where you live and the shipping method that works best for you. Generally speaking, we would suggest that delivery is 2 to 4 weeks after the table is packed up.
Doing the Math
If we put all of these steps together, it’s fair to expect that you will be enjoying your new custom table 10-14 weeks after you start a conversation with us! So if you’ve got a plan to host Thanksgiving at the end of November, mid-August is the perfect time to reach out. If the party you’re imagining is for Christmas, you have a bit more time - though it doesn't hurt to start now. Either way, we’d love to work with you to get you your forever table in time for your holiday hosting needs.
