The first thing to note is that a parsons style base has a leg in each corner. This allows it to be one of the most functional table designs. Wherever the legs are on a table, it’s difficult to sit at. A chair can’t be pushed in if there’s a leg sitting right there, and feet can bang into it. .

At Loewen Design Studios we work with Rubio Monocoat to finish our tables. With Rubio we’re able to create a variety of finish looks, but the most dramatic look must be the black finish, especially on Ash or Oak. So how is it that this finish gets so very black? And how black is it really?

Oak is one of the best hardwoods available. This is for a number of reasons. First, it's very hard. It’s a very solid hardwood that will hold up very well to everyday use for many many years. It will hold up to most everything you have to throw at it. This is why it’s been used for so long in dining tables. 

If you’re getting a new dining table, it’s important to make sure you get the best one for you. While we have individual information on each of the dining table shapes, this should provide a bit of an overview on all of them, helping you to at least narrow your search a little.
